The Bus and Car Operators Confederation of India (BOCI) has announced its newly appointed National Committee, reinforcing its commitment to innovation, sustainability, and international collaboration in the passenger transport sector.
For the next three years, the committee will be led by Prasanna Patwardhan as National President, with A. Afzal as National Vice President, Dharmaraj D.R. as General Secretary, Harsh Kotak as Treasurer, and Babu Panikar as Additional Secretary.
Re-elected as National President, Patwardhan expressed his gratitude for the continued trust placed in him. He emphasized the need for the transport sector to evolve in response to changing mobility demands, underscoring public transport’s crucial role in achieving “Viksit Bharat” (Developed India). His leadership will focus on improving accessibility, efficiency, and last-mile connectivity in public transport.
BOCI’s roadmap for the next three years centers on fostering innovation, strengthening industry collaborations, and building global partnerships. These initiatives aim to align the sector with international best practices and advancements while addressing pressing challenges such as regulatory hurdles, taxation, and infrastructure development.
A key priority for BOCI is the promotion of sustainable transport solutions, particularly the adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), to enhance efficiency and environmental responsibility. By integrating these strategies, the organization seeks to create a resilient, future-ready transport ecosystem that benefits both operators and passengers.
Established in 2016, BOCI continues to advocate for policy reforms and industry growth, championing innovation and cooperation to drive progress in India’s passenger transport sector.
